OUR STORY · MUSEUM STREET, YORK

The Menu That
Never Changes

John and Carol Sammons opened Bailey's in 1996, and it has stayed in the family ever since. Their daughter Katie works here, alongside café managers Lisa Blackburn and Samantha Pullman, who have each been part of the team for more than twenty years.

We have stuck to the same menu for many many years and tweaked it just a little bit as we have people coming in who love the fact that they can get what they want and it never changes. — Katie Sammons

Across from the Museum Gardens, between the railway station and York Minster, there's an all-day breakfast and a gluten-free menu at no extra cost. Bailey's also holds a 5-star food hygiene rating.

When we are in York we go every day to Baileys for breakfast and sometimes early tea. The food is so so so good, and the staff are so nice, hard working, professional and attentive. To say it's super busy most of the time, the wait time is hardly anything and the standard of food is first class. We wouldn't go anywhere else for breakfast - Can't wait to come back in the New Year.

Lovely cafe situated close to centre. Been twice and very very popular. We had cheese on toast and scrambled egg on toast with breakfast tea and coffee with cream. The other day veggie breakfast. Great value for money. Lovely waitresses. A gem of a Cafe.

We stumbled across this place when another one we planned on visiting was full. We are both gluten free and there were several choices of cake available to us (which is a rarity!) The service was prompt and polite and the cakes were delicious!

This place gets really busy and it is easy to see why. We accidentally came across Bailey's when we arrived in York and had a lovely lunch in there and proceeded to have our breakfast for the following 2 days there as well. The prices are reasonable and everything is made fresh to order. They are happy to accommodate any requests. All the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and I couldn't find fault at all. Would highly recommend.

Our first time in York and we were lucky to find Baileys. They were busy but had a table ready for us and the staff were very quick to serve us. The menu covers everything for a good hearty breakfast, the coffee was perfect and the rolls were extra fresh and the bacon cooked to perfection. Overall we were more than satisfied and would certainly return for another meal.
